Limited Edition Franklin Township Commemorative Collector Coins
The Franklin Township Civic League is offering a limited edition Franklin Township Commemorative Coin Collection to celebrate Franklin Township’s rich heritage. This collection (not legal tender or precious metal) will be the first of its kind for Franklin Township and will be a wonderful addition to any history buff’s anthology.
There will be four coins, one for each quadrant of the township, each with a depiction of a community landmark on the front face, along with the phrase “soul of the past.” The back of each coin will be imprinted with the FT Civic League logo. The Coins will be $10 each, with a free case included when all four are purchased. The coins will be made by Sutterfield’s Plaque and Trophy Company on a burnished gold background and will be approximately two inches in diameter.
The first coin will be available in time for purchase at the Wanamaker Street Fair (June 9th). The landmark selected for this coin will be the Acton Baptist Church, for the southeast corner of the township. The remaining three coins will be available in four to six weeks intervals, with the entire set being completed in time for Christmas.
The illustration for the second coin of the set will be the old Franklin Township High School building in Wanamaker, representing the northeast quadrant. The coin from the northwest side will be of the Waterman Building and the final coin will depict an historical house from the southwest section of the township. Collectively, the buildings chosen to appear on the face of the coins represent a church, school, business and home to symbolize the cornerstones of Franklin Township.
There will be a limited number of the coins cast. Keep an eye on the Informer, or contact the Civic League at ftcivicleague.org for information on how you can purchase one or all of these Commemorative Coins and plan to make them a treasured piece of memorabilia for family and friends.
